Cissie R. Calpin

Cissie R. Calpin, 91, of Ash­ley, passed away early Mon­day morn­ing (May 2, 2011) at her daughter’s residence.

She was born March 2, 1920 in Lon­don, Eng­land, to Albert Charles and Cecilia (Hodges) Pool. She served her coun­try as a mem­ber of the British Army. She was a home­maker and mem­ber of St. Mary Catholic Church, who enjoyed read­ing, cross­word puz­zles, ani­mals and being a caretaker.

She is sur­vived by two daugh­ters Mary Ann “Molly” (Gene) McCurdy of Ash­ley and Peggy John­son of Kit­tan­ning, Penn.; son, Brian Calpin of British Colum­bia, Canada; 10 grand­chil­dren includ­ing Mary (Robert) Burns, Chris McCurdy, Mar­garet McCurdy, Rem­bert (Tiffiny) McCurdy, and April and George Hyn­ick; and sev­eral great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was pre­ceded in death her hus­band, James in 2007; daugh­ter, Linda; and four broth­ers and three sis­ters includ­ing most recently her sis­ter Dorothy Ozab of San Diego.

A memo­r­ial mass was held this morn­ing in St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. James Black offi­ci­at­ing. Bur­ial fol­lowed in St. Mary Cemetery.
