Cissie R. Calpin
Cissie R. Calpin, 91, of Ashley, passed away early Monday morning (May 2, 2011) at her daughter’s residence.
She was born March 2, 1920 in London, England, to Albert Charles and Cecilia (Hodges) Pool. She served her country as a member of the British Army. She was a homemaker and member of St. Mary Catholic Church, who enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, animals and being a caretaker.
She is survived by two daughters Mary Ann “Molly” (Gene) McCurdy of Ashley and Peggy Johnson of Kittanning, Penn.; son, Brian Calpin of British Columbia, Canada; 10 grandchildren including Mary (Robert) Burns, Chris McCurdy, Margaret McCurdy, Rembert (Tiffiny) McCurdy, and April and George Hynick; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death her husband, James in 2007; daughter, Linda; and four brothers and three sisters including most recently her sister Dorothy Ozab of San Diego.
A memorial mass was held this morning in St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. James Black officiating. Burial followed in St. Mary Cemetery.
