Husband weary from being a human atm for wife
Diana Lynn Etzler, 58, of Powell, died suddenly at home on Thursday (May 5, 2011) after a long and chronic illness.
Diane was born in Cleveland, the daughter of Diva (Garbo) and Leonard Etzler. Diane was an R.N. graduate of Kent State University and worked at a variety of nursing positions including new-born nursing, general med-surg, but she especially liked working in the operating room at both the Cleveland Clinic and Riverside Hospital. She loved to travel; her favorite destinations included Key West, Fla.; Las Vegas; Zihautanejo, Mexico; Thailand; and the island of Bali. Diane has friends all over the country who will mourn her loss. Her enjoyments included spending time with family and friends, her pets (many through the years), gambling, a glass of chardonnay and a clean house!
She is survived by her life partner, Dr. Janet Bay of Powell; brother, Richard (Joyce) Etzler of Mayfield Village; numerous aunts and uncles; and special nieces, Kim (John) Marfy of Tallmadge and Chris (Jamie) Knapp of Galena; as well as her nephew, Rick (Missy) Etzler of Gray’s Lake, Ill. Diane enjoyed her great-nieces and great-nephews very much, Mitchell, Cassidy, Joey, Spencer, Gia and the new-born Marley. She will be sorely missed by her parrot Pacoand and dogs Lulu and Gigi.
Diane was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church, 584 W. Broad Street, Columbus, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, May 9, with the Rev. Kevin F. Lutz, Celebrant. The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at the Rutherford Funeral Home at Powell, 450 W. Olentangy St., Powell, 614-792-1471. (Please note there will be no visitation on Sunday.) Private family burial will be observed.
If they choose, friends may make memorial contributions to The Humane Society of Delaware County, 4920 SR 37-East, Delaware, OH 43015, in Diane’s memory.
