Joseph K. Armstrong Jr.

Joseph K. Arm­strong Jr., 86, of Ful­ton, went to be with the Lord Fri­day evening (May 13, 2011) while in the Knox Com­mu­nity Hospital.

He was born July 11, 1924 in Wood County, W.Va., to the late Joseph K. Arm­strong, Sr. and Net­tie (Wheaton) Arm­strong. Joseph was a retired truck dri­ver and auto mechanic at C&D Chevro­let. He served in World War II in both the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy and was a mem­ber of both the AmVets and V.F.W. in Delaware. Joe was an avid stock car dri­ver and could be found at many race tracks prior to the for­ma­tion of NASCAR.

On Christ­mas Day in 1946, Joseph mar­ried the for­mer Emily L. Feick and she sur­vives in Ful­ton. Other sur­vivors include his chil­dren, Nan and Mike Ostrom of Card­ing­ton, Con­nie and John Criswell of Marengo, Earl Arm­strong of Ful­ton, Dar­rell and Barb Arm­strong of Delaware, Emily Honaker of Fred­er­ick­town and William Arm­strong of Mount Gilead; 11 grand­chil­dren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sis­ter, Mary K. Full, Vienna of West Virginia.

In addi­tion to his par­ents, Joseph was pre­ceded in death by one brother and one sister.

A grave­side funeral ser­vice will be held in the Ful­ton Ceme­tery. Con­do­lences may be sent to the fam­ily of Joseph Arm­strong at gompffh.com.
