Richard K. "Rich” Cooperider

Richard K. “Rich” Cooperider, 62, of Card­ing­ton, died at his res­i­dence Tues­day evening (May 10, 2011).

He was born on Nov. 25, 1948 in Colum­bus to the late Harry and Fan­nie (Long) Cooperider. A U.S. Army vet­eran, he was a self-employed secu­rity sys­tem installer. Rich enjoyed drag rac­ing and spent time at the Pace­mak­ers Drag Strip in Mount Ver­non where he raced, worked and watched his grand­son race a junior drag­ster. Rich also liked to spend time with his fam­ily at Cedar Point rid­ing the roller coast­ers, also camp­ing and canoe­ing at Mohican.

He is sur­vived by his wife of almost 40 years, Ruth (Richeimer) Cooperider and they were mar­ried Sep­tem­ber 19, 1971 in Colum­bus; son, Tim of Card­ing­ton; daugh­ters, Michelle Keplar of Card­ing­ton and Kim­berly Cooperider of Card­ing­ton; grand­chil­dren, Megan, Steven, Kyle, Jonathan, BJ and Noah; and sis­ter, Rudyann Arnold of Baltimore.

He was pre­ceded in death by broth­ers, John and Eddie.

Friends may call one hour prior to the 7 p.m. memo­r­ial ser­vice on Tues­day at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at Ohio 61, Sun­bury. Inurn­ment will take place at a later date.

Memo­r­ial con­tri­bu­tions can be made to his fam­ily to assist with final expenses.
