New Delaware city ward boundaries approved

Some Delaware city res­i­dents now have dif­fer­ent coun­cil rep­re­sen­ta­tives fol­low­ing the approval of a ward redis­trict­ing plan. The new bound­aries, which estab­lish a bal­anced geo­graphic rep­re­sen­ta­tion of the city’s four wards, were approved by Delaware City Coun­cil this week.

Man arrested for attempting to run over people with truck

A man was arrested around 9:50 a.m. Thurs­day after try­ing to run peo­ple over with his truck and ram­ming into the garage of a home on Cloverdale Drive in Galena, accord­ing to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.

Thinning the prison herd

It’s not often that a Repub­li­can Gov­er­nor and an ACLU legal direc­tor are in agree­ment on some­thing. It’s even rarer if that agree­ment is over a crim­i­nal jus­tice reform bill. Such are the strange times in which we find our­selves in Ohio. The bill was House Bill 86 and its pro­vi­sions enact broad and sweep­ing reforms of crim­i­nal and juve­nile justice.

Minn. braces for government shutdown over taxes

ST. PAUL, Minn. — In an echo of the debate unfold­ing in Wash­ing­ton, Min­nesota hur­tled toward a mid­night gov­ern­ment shut­down Thurs­day in a dis­pute over taxes and spend­ing that could force thou­sands of lay­offs, bring road projects to a stand­still and close state parks just ahead of the Fourth of July weekend.
