Federal mandates cost Delaware Schools’ food service
Diana (D) Lambert Seebode
Diana (D) Lambert Seebode, 75, died Friday (April 22, 2010) at her home in Delaware surrounded by her family and supported by her friends.
It is with great joy and equal parts sadness, that I get to tell you about her life. She was a lifelong believer in education, graduating from Ohio State University (BA in education), Syracuse University (MA in Fine Arts) and Walden University (PhD in Education). If you remember my mother’s personality, you would be celebrating the gifts she has shared with you and others in her bountiful lifetime. “D” truly believed and lived to make the world a better place, by her actions, her teachings and her example. Mom really did a great job in following her own footsteps and dreams while being a great wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, in-law, teacher (Mater Dei, Gahanna High School), professor of art (Capital University), mentor, world traveler, community member and an exceptional artist. Always willing to feed one guest, or 50, “D” maintained a perpetual pot of coffee. She greeted neighbors, friends and travelers from all over the world, finding joy in their company and a place to sit on the couch. Now it is up to us, her family and community, to continue to put forward the lessons we have learned from Diana — to embrace life and the opportunities presented to you, make the very best of every day with what you have and greet everyone with open arms regardless of their differences.
She is survived by her husband, Dick; son, Frank (Brenda); daughters, Susan (Karl) Hetzel and Gretchen Seebode; and granddaughters, Helen and Anna Hetzel.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at her home community of Willow Brook at Delaware Run, followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. on Thursday also at Willow Brook at Delaware Run, 100 Delaware Run West, Delaware. Colorful casual attire appreciated.
