James “Jim” Stephen Jacquemin

James “Jim” Stephen Jacquemin, 53, of Delaware passed away early Wednes­day morn­ing (July 27, 2011) at his res­i­dence with his fam­ily by his side, after a brief strug­gle with cancer.

He was born Aug. 28, 1957 in Hamil­ton to Wal­ter and Cather­ine (Hogan) Jacquemin. He was a 1975 grad­u­ate of Fair­field High School and then of the Lin­coln Tech­ni­cal School in Indi­anapo­lis. He was an elec­tri­cian who had worked for Willamette and the Scott’s Com­pany and has been a mem­ber of St. Mary Catholic Church in Delaware since 1981. He was a vol­un­teer for the Coun­cil for Older Adults and the Amer­i­can Red Cross and a 4-H advi­sor, Boy Scout leader, Lit­tle League coach and he also helped rehab houses for Habi­tat for Human­ity. He was a mem­ber of the pit crews and a vol­un­teer fire­fighter at Mid Ohio Race­way. He loved fly­ing with his fam­ily at the fam­ily air­port, “Hogan Field,” in Hamil­ton. He enjoyed rebuild­ing air­planes and along with his son Stephen, he restored a 1967 Buick Sky­lark con­vert­ible. He was a World War II his­tory enthu­si­ast who enjoyed fish­ing, trav­el­ing, adven­tures, play­ing with his grand­son and pup­pies, and spend­ing time with his fam­ily. He was the “Go to Guy” and “Handyman.”

He is sur­vived by his wife of almost 32 years, Patri­cia “Trish” (Cast); daugh­ter, Melissa (Jacquemin) Stroupe and her hus­band, Matt; son, Stephen James Jacquemin and his wife, Renee (Trent­man); grand­son, Car­son Stroupe and a sec­ond grand­son due in Decem­ber; two broth­ers, Wal­ter (Barb) Jacquemin of Alpena, Mich., and John (Dina) Jacquemin of Cincin­nati; sis­ter, Karen (Larry) Roberts of Hamil­ton; numer­ous nieces, nephews, and beloved friends; and his canine com­pan­ions, Choo­choo Willy, Box­car Willy and Sydney.

He was pre­ceded in death by his par­ents and a brother, David.

The fam­ily will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Mon­day, Aug. 1, at the Rod­man Neeper Funeral Home, 1510 W. William St., Delaware, where a vigil of prayer ser­vice will be held at 5 pm. Memo­r­ial mass will be cel­e­brated at 10 a.m. Tues­day, Aug. 2, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 82 E. William St., Delaware, with the Rev. Fr. James Black offi­ci­at­ing. The St. Mary Bereave­ment Com­mit­tee will then host a recep­tion in the Rod­man Neeper Com­mu­nity Room imme­di­ately fol­low­ing the mass.

In lieu of flow­ers, memo­r­ial con­tri­bu­tions may be made to Home­Reach hos­pice or the Delaware Humane Society.
