Donald E. Robinson

Don­ald E. Robin­son, 69, of Delaware, died Wednes­day (Aug. 17, 2011) in Grady Memo­r­ial Hospital.

He was born April 3, 1942 in Mar­ion to Helen Ruth (Stithem) and Richard Robin­son. He grad­u­ated from Willis High School in 1961 and lived most of his life­time in Delaware. Don retired in 2008 after 41 years with PPG Indus­tries, Inc and was co-owner of Robinson’s Flower Shop. He was a mem­ber of the Pleas­ant Hill Free Will Bap­tist Church. Don was a highly accom­plished and hon­ored mar­tial artists. A 7th degree Mas­ter, he instructed hun­dreds of stu­dents in the Delaware area. His life was his fam­ily. He loved God and his church.

Don is sur­vived by his wife of 51 years, Shirley; a daugh­ter, Dodie (Danny) Robinson-Shaw of Card­ing­ton; a son, Dean (Marah) of Delaware; five grand­chil­dren, Drew, Shandee, Drake, Salena and Jay­den; a brother, James of Florida; brothers-in-law, Bill (Car­ole) Piper, Scott (Emmalee) Eagon and Rod­ney Eagon; and his spe­cial nieces and nephews.

He was pre­ceded in death by a son, Don­ald E., Jr. “Rob­bie”; and a brother, Barry.

Vis­i­ta­tion will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sun­day at the Pleas­ant Hill Free Will Bap­tist Church, 230 Hayes St., Delaware, where the funeral ser­vice will be at 11 a.m. Mon­day with the Rev. Wayne Keith offi­ci­at­ing. Bur­ial will fol­low in Fairview Memo­r­ial Park. Robin­son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
