Delaware city water plant cost higher than expected

Jack R. Cole, 84, of Sunbury passed away Easter Sunday morning (April 8, 2012) at his winter residence in Okeechobee, Fla.

He was born July 27, 1927, in Columbus to Raymond F. and Muriel Beard Cole. A local resident since 1969, he was a World War II Navy Veteran and retired as lieutenant from the Columbus Police Force. He was a member of the Hiram Masonic Lodge 18 and was past Master of the Ashley Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing cards, and was a member of the Stantontown Advent Christian Church as well as the Okeechobee Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by daughter, Janet (Tim) Hawxhurst of Columbus; son, Tommy (Sharon) Cole of Marengo and stepchildren, Beverly (Bill) Carr and Ronald Denney of Columbus; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred in 2009; a twin brother, Richard; and a sister, Betty Corso.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 12, at the Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, 1510 W. William St. at Valleyside Drive, Delaware, with Masonic services at 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Stantontown Advent Christian Church with the Rev. Keith Daniels officiating. Interment will follow in Greenmound Cemetery.
