2-month downtown Delaware art gallery opens today

A tem­po­rary art gallery fea­tur­ing the work of area artists opens today in down­town Delaware. Long­time Sun­bury res­i­dent Car­olyn Hef­felfin­ger is the artist behind the Wing­spread Gallery, which will fea­ture her nature-themed oil paint­ings, as well as the work of 13 other Cen­tral Ohio artists. The gallery is located at 29 N. San­dusky St., Delaware, between Bee­hive Books and Whit’s Frozen Custard.

Man sentenced to life for rape of young girl

On the eve of what was to be his rape trial, a Delaware man was sen­tenced to 25 years to life in prison after plead­ing guilty to rap­ing a 6-year-old girl and sex­u­ally assault­ing two teenage girls, accord­ing to Delaware County Pros­e­cut­ing Attor­ney Carol O’Brien.

Zombie-themed County EMA exercise draws more than 200 volunteers

Clutch­ing with ghastly hands, zom­bies greed­ily reached in between the steel bars of the fence that sur­rounds Ohio Wes­leyan University’s Selby Field, grab­bing for their next Hal­loween meal before shov­ing it in their mouths. Con­trary to pop­u­lar imagery, these zom­bies were not hun­gry for brains. It was past lunchtime, and these vol­un­teers were just plain hun­gry. The zom­bies, present to take part in a Mon­day train­ing exer­cise orga­nized by local emer­gency response offi­cials, hap­pily accepted corn bread, dan­ishes and other baked goods, served up by smil­ing Delaware Gen­eral Health Dis­trict employees.
