What’s new at the Community Market

If you haven’t stopped in the Delaware County Com­mu­nity Mar­ket on E. William St. in Delaware for awhile or even at all, make a point of pop­ping in this fall. The Mar­ket has grown in its first year and a half of oper­a­tion and now has 3,344 cus­tomers, sup­ports 84 non-profits and sells items from 117 local ven­dors. The whole pur­pose of this non-profit store and deli is to donate 20 per­cent of its sales to local charities.

Local chef Bo Reed is busy in the deli cook­ing up deli­cious daily lunch spe­cials and can also put together any kind of cater­ing for your spe­cial needs. The deli also sells meats and cheeses by the pound.

Fall is a great time to expe­ri­ence the dynamic offer­ings at the Mar­ket. Not only is local pro­duce like pump­kins, squash, egg­plant, gar­lic, assorted pep­pers and more avail­able, but deli­cious autumn-themed baked goods will entice you as well. Then there are the cre­ative home and gift goods like fall-scented home­made soy can­dles, dec­o­ra­tive dish tow­els, warm scarves and hats, exquis­ite pot­tery, pic­tures, and jew­elry and OSU-themed merchandise.

Hal­loween fes­tiv­i­ties will be in full swing on Sun­day, Oct. 30 (the last Sun­day the Mar­ket is open until spring), and Mon­day, Oct. 31. Dress in cos­tume or in black or orange for a free half-pound of Bo’s famous chicken or ham salad (one per fam­ily). Treats will be avail­able for kids, as well as pump­kin dec­o­rat­ing for a small fee.

The Mar­ket is located at 222 E. William St. next to the Triple Crown liquor store. Open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mon­days through Fri­days, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sat­ur­days and from noon to 4 p.m. Sun­days through Oct. 30, the Mar­ket can be reached at 740–610-0091.
