9-year streak: Local trio has performed weekly in Delaware for nearly a decade
Gene Herbert Holt, 88, of Marysville died Monday morning (Nov. 28, 2011) at Milcrest Nursing Home.
He was a retired, self-employed carpenter. A man of faith, he went home to be with the Lord following an extended illness. Gene was born April 22, 1923 in Marion to the late Bliss and Margaret Strawser Holt. He was married for more than 50 years to the former Velda Beers who also preceded him in death as did a brother, Richard Holt and a son, Burrill B. Holt.
He is survived by his daughters, Sondra (Dale) Spradlin of Winter Haven, Fla., and Jo Ann (Everett) Lowe of Marysville; a brother, Harley (Marilyn) Holt of Miami, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Stephanie (Derek) Pierce of Westerville, Stacy Stevens, Edward (Heather) Lowe of Marysville, Carl (Roxanne) Lowe of Raymond, Victoria (Kimmer) Callahan of Columbus, Cynthia (Sven) Willkehr of Cortlandt Manor, N.Y., Christopher (Francine) Holt of Columbus, Mike Holt and Catherine Holt; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Following cremation, a private burial service will be held at a later date in Newhouse Cemetery near Ostrander.
