Gregory Lynn Wine

Gregory Lynn Wine, 56, of Delaware was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday (Nov. 15, 2011) while recovering from spinal surgery.

Greg was born in Delaware where he lived his whole life. He was a 1973 graduate of Buckeye Valley High School. Born Jan. 20, 1955 to Hansford and Dorothy (Stover) Wine, Greg had two sisters, Linda (Jack) Johns still living and Barbara (Roy) Mullins both deceased. He left behind so many family members and he loved each and every one of them so deeply. In January of 1974, he married the love of his life, Linda Jean Hawk, They bore two children, a son, Mike (Nikki) of Marion and a daughter, Amy (Bill) of Marysville. He was blessed with six wonderful grandchildren that were the joy of his life, Jacob, Andrea, Isaac, Shawn, Caden and Owen. Family meant everything to Greg and he taught them so much about the values of life and the importance of Christ in their lives.

Greg was owner of Able Sanitation and worked daily with Linda on the truck. He worked at Union Fork and Hoe company for 13 years back when the company was in Delaware. In 1998, the Lord called Greg and Linda into his service with a singing ministry and they named themselves “New Wine.” They sang Southern Gospel and traveled for several years singing for Christ and spreading the gospel. Heaven just received a beautiful rich voice that will be truly missed here.

There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, Nov. 19, at Christ the King Worship Center, 4701 U.S. 23N, Delaware. We will gather to reminisce from 10 a.m. until noon with a service to honor Greg at noon. Lunch will follow for all who wish to stay. Greg’s desire for years has been to be a donor at time of death. Lifeline has informed Linda his body will touch around 50 lives. That being said, Greg is being cremated and will stay in Linda’s care until her passing so they can be laid to rest together at their favorite place, so please do not send flowers. If you would like to give, please give any donation to Christ the King in honor of Greg. He loved his church family. He wanted to further the building of Christ’s kingdom. He was so excited to share in that growth in the Lord’s name. It would be most honorable to share in that with him.

John 3:16 — For God so love the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.
