Ross Beard Heskett

Ross Beard Hes­kett, 66, of Cen­ter­burg died Mon­day (Nov. 21, 2011).

He was born on Oct. 22, 1945 in Mount Ver­non to the late Jay Ack­er­man and Shirley Joanna (Beard) Hes­kett. On Sept. 6, 1970, he mar­ried the for­mer Sheila Anne Hord and she sur­vives in Cen­ter­burg. Through the 41 years, they shared the plea­sure of par­ent­hood, joys of life, many laughs, tack­led the hard­ships together, and many happy memories.

Ross was a 1963 Cardington-Lincoln grad­u­ate and a machin­ist for 35 years at Nip­pert in Delaware. A Viet­nam Vet­eran, he served his coun­try proudly as a mem­ber of the U.S. Army. Ross was a life­long farmer, a mem­ber of the Cen­ter­burg Amvets Post 59, a 4-H advi­sor, avid col­lec­tor of ‘things’ and loved to hunt with his sons.

Addi­tional sur­vivors include his chil­dren, Heather Clapham of Card­ing­ton, Shawn Hes­kett (Kendra Hardrick) and Matthew Hes­kett both of Cen­ter­burg and Brid­get (Dono­van) Whet­nall of Marengo; and six grand­chil­dren, Blake and Brook­lynn Clapham, Makenna and Brady Jay Hes­kett and Sage and Bris­tol Whetnall.

Friends and fam­ily may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Fri­day, Nov. 25, at Gompf Funeral Ser­vice in Card­ing­ton. A funeral ser­vice will be held at 10 a.m. Sat­ur­day with bur­ial fol­low­ing in Ful­ton Cemetery.

In lieu of flow­ers, the fam­ily requests you con­sider mak­ing a memo­r­ial con­tri­bu­tions to the Fisher House, 3200 Vine Street, Cincin­nati, OH 45220. The Fisher House was “a home away from home” for the fam­ily while Ross received his cochlear implant.
