Walter Damian Neighbor II

Wal­ter Damian “Walt” Neigh­bor II, of New­com­er­stown and for­merly of Delaware, died sud­denly Fri­day after­noon (Oct. 28, 2011) in the emer­gency room of the South­east Ohio Regional Med­ical Cen­ter, Cam­bridge, after suf­fer­ing an appar­ent heart attack at his New­com­er­stown residence.

Wal­ter was born on July 15, 1979 in Coshoc­ton. He attended the New­com­er­stown schools for sev­eral years and then grad­u­ated from Buck­eye Val­ley Joint Voca­tional School North, Delaware County, class of 1998. Walt was a self-employed roofer and car­pen­ter for sev­eral years, and also held sev­eral jobs as a laborer. He was a Catholic by faith. Walt enjoyed canoe­ing, fish­ing and lis­ten­ing to his two favorite musi­cal groups, The Grate­ful Dead and Bob Mar­ley and the Wail­ers. He also was a skilled tat­too artist.

He is sur­vived by his mother, Toni Durben Fish of New­com­er­stown; his father, W. Damian Neigh­bor of Delaware; his son, W. James Neigh­bor of Delaware; his daugh­ter, Olivia Vio­let Neigh­bor of New­com­er­stown; his fiancé, Christina M. Humphreys of New­com­er­stown; sis­ters, Heather Renee Fish of New­com­er­stown, and Saman­tha K. Neigh­bor of Rich­mond, Va.; step father Ken­neth K. Fish of New­com­er­stown; step mother, Deb Neigh­bor of Delaware; step sis­ter, Des­tiny Gar­ri­son of Lewis Cen­ter; mater­nal grand­mother, Glo­ria Mc Don­ald of Coshoc­ton; mater­nal grand­fa­ther, Larry and wife Betty Durben of Brew­ster; pater­nal grand­mother, Linda Neigh­bor of War­saw; pater­nal grand­fa­ther W. Jerry and wife Mar­lena Neigh­bor of Delaware; six aunts; two uncles; and numer­ous cousins.

Walt was pre­ceded in death by his mater­nal great grand­mother, Laura Durben, who helped raise him, and an aunt, Lori Neigh­bor of Coshocton.

Funeral ser­vices will be held at 1 p.m. Fri­day, Nov. 4, in the Ourant Funeral Home. The Rev. Ric Bon­ice will con­duct the ser­vices. Bur­ial will fol­low at Fair­field Ceme­tery, West Lafayette. Vis­it­ing hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thurs­day evening at the funeral home and from noon until the 1 p.m. Fri­day funeral.

The fam­ily is request­ing that in lieu of flow­ers, memo­ri­als may be made to the Wal­ter D. Neigh­bor II Memo­r­ial Fund, pay to the order of Toni Fish, care of the Hunt­ing­ton National Bank, 100 West Main St., New­com­er­stown OH 43832.
