Joanne “Jo” Budd, 75, of Alexandria passed away, Wednesday (Aug. 10, 2011) at Mount Carmel East Hospital, after a lengthy battle with multiple myeloma cancer.

She was born Aug. 21, 1936, the daughter of the late Walter and Ruth Hickok of Ostrander. Mrs. Budd served as a 4-H leader for 19 years. She was active in the Alexandria Baptist Church as a member, organist and Sunday school and Bible school teacher. She also sang in the choir at the church. She sang many times as a soloist for weddings and funerals. Mrs. Budd was a graduate of the Ostrander High School in 1954. She attended Otterbein College and later worked in the science department for many years.

Joanne is survived by her husband of 55 years, James Budd of Alexandria; two children, Jeff Budd of Alexandria and Janice Luft of Yorkshire; four grandchildren, Michael and Amanda Budd of Alexandria and Paul and Erin Luft of Yorkshire; sister, Joyce Waggamon of Delaware; and many nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 14, at Crouse-Kauber-Sammons Funeral Home, 225 N. Main St., Johnstown. There will be a 10 a.m. funeral service on Monday, Aug. 15, at the Alexandria Baptist Church, 92 W. Main St., Alexandria, with the Rev. Larry Stewart officiating; burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Alexandria.
