Donald Greene, 80, of LaRue, died at 8:10 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 27, 2011) at Riverside Hospital in Columbus.
He was born June 22, 1931, in Blaine, Ky., to the late Morton and Beatrice (Berry) Greene. On June 21, 1950, he married Rosemary Cox, who died July 15, 2008. He worked at Marion Power Shovel for 43 years as a crane operator and in maintenance. He was a member of the Calvary Bible Baptist Church in Marion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, bowling, camping and especially his children. He loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener.
He is survived by daughters, Nancy (Daniel) Jeffers of LaRue, Kathryn (Darrell) Cassell of Tallahassee, Fla., Janice (David) Jeffers of Delaware, Laura (Mike) Joseph of Marion, and Donna (Mike) Bridges of Nevada; sons, Brian (Sandy) Greene of LaRue and Andy (Sharon) Greene of New Bloomington; 24 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers and eight sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at the LaRue Baptist Church. Ministers will be the Rev. Tim Pasma and the Rev. Ken Wert. Burial will be in Chapel Heights Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue.
