Eddie D. Wells

Eddie D. Wells, 72, of Delaware passed away Fri­day (Dec. 2, 2011) at Kobacker House in Colum­bus fol­low­ing a two month illness.

He was born in Leonards­burg on July 25, 1939, the youngest child of the late DeWitt and Mary (Cack­ler) Wells. A grad­u­ate of Elm Val­ley High School in 1957, he served in the U.S. Army Reserves and was life­long farmer of both grain and live­stock. Eddie was a mem­ber of the Delaware Moose and Mar­ion Eagle Lodges. He was stub­born and freely spoke his mind. A fan of coun­try music, he enjoyed solv­ing cross­word puz­zles and card games, Texas Hol­dem was his favorite. Not one to show his feel­ings, he was always con­cerned and lov­ing. Described as “amaz­ing” by his chil­dren and grand­chil­dren, there was never a moment in their lives that they ever ques­tioned his love for them.

He is sur­vived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Car­ole (Adams); chil­dren, Deb­o­rah Wells of South Dakota, Karen (Wal­ter) Her­ren of Delaware, Ran­dall Lin­st­edt (CeAnn Allen) of Marengo and Eddie “Speedy” Wells of Ash­ley; seven grand­chil­dren; six great-grandchildren includ­ing Tin­ker Bell; sis­ters, Sally (Ted) Mess­ner of Colum­bus and Joan Wells of Delaware.

In addi­tion to his par­ents he was also pre­ceded in death by son, Randy Wells; and daugh­ter, Kim­berly Rushia, both in 2009; and sis­ter, Erma Jean Hes­son in 2000.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Mon­day at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St., Delaware, where ser­vices will be held at 11 a.m. Tues­day with the Rev. Don­ald Wal­lick offi­ci­at­ing; bur­ial will fol­low in Green­mound Cemetery.
