John R. Herriott
John R. Herriott, 84, of Marion and formerly of Ostrander, passed away Wednesday (Dec. 28, 2011) at his home.
He was born Nov. 10, 1927, in Ostrander, to Wilbur and Frances Liggett Herriott. He graduated from Ostrander High School in 1948. He was a retired employee of W.G. Herriott and Sons, Popright, Marion Power Shovel and Rhodes Heating and Air Conditioning. He served in the Ohio National Guard from 1947 through 1954, ending his career as Master Sergeant. He was a former scout master of Boy Scout Troop 184 in Ostrander and also enjoyed hunting. He was a member of the Marion First Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Jolyn (Smith) Herriott, whom he married July 26, 1953; his children, Debra (Nat) Willauer of Marion, Lonn (Karen) Herriott of Marion, Donna Herriott of Columbus, Paula Wray of Marion and Betty Hoile of Marysville; grandchildren, Adam (Carrie) Willauer, Lisa (William) Lupo, Lauren (Ron) Johnson, Jonathan Wray, Mollie (Joel) Gent, Jessica Hoile, Amanda (Wes) Brown, Dustin Wray, Jodie (Charles) Gipson, Douglas Hoile and Halee Wray; great-grandchildren, Matthew Willauer, Cameron Kretsinger, Joel Gent III, Brody Johnson, Domenic Lupo, Rylee Gipson, Parker Johnson, Ariana Wray and Jaxon Gent; step-granddaughter, Kim Wray Coleman and her daughters Nishyah and Alexis; as well as nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert; sister, Dixie; a grandson, James Wray; and great-granddaughter, Addison Willauer.
A visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Robinson Funeral Home, 32 W. William St., Delaware, where a funeral service will be at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Rob Howard officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Ostrander. Memorial contributions may be made to Marion General Hospice.
