Avonne ‘Vonnie’ Long
Avonne “Vonnie” Long, 70, of Columbus and formerly of Delaware passed away New Year’s morning (Jan. 1, 2012) while at the Bennington Glenn Care Center in Marengo.
She was born March 14, 1941 in Delaware to Murray and Margaret Morris Long. A lifelong area resident, she enjoyed puzzles, listening to music — her favorite was Mexican, and was fascinated by watches. She was employed by Alpha Industries of Delaware and Goodwill Industries of Columbus.
Her survivors include three sisters, Louise Ziegler of Ashley, Doris Martin also of Ashley and Sister David Marie of Wisconsin; two brothers, Harry (Joyce) of Delaware and Donald (Sandra) of Ashley; nieces and nephews, Jan (Efren) Silva Sanchez of Delaware, Harry Long Jr. of Delaware, Kara Long of Delaware, Rachel (Chris) Blue of Clibourne and Kori (Ryan) Southers of Columbus; and several great-nieces and –nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, at the Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, 1510 W. William St., Delaware. Graveside services will then commence immediately following at Fairview Memorial Park.
