Avonne ‘Vonnie’ Long

Avonne “Von­nie” Long, 70, of Colum­bus and for­merly of Delaware passed away New Year’s morn­ing (Jan. 1, 2012) while at the Ben­ning­ton Glenn Care Cen­ter in Marengo.

She was born March 14, 1941 in Delaware to Mur­ray and Mar­garet Mor­ris Long. A life­long area res­i­dent, she enjoyed puz­zles, lis­ten­ing to music — her favorite was Mex­i­can, and was fas­ci­nated by watches. She was employed by Alpha Indus­tries of Delaware and Good­will Indus­tries of Columbus.

Her sur­vivors include three sis­ters, Louise Ziegler of Ash­ley, Doris Mar­tin also of Ash­ley and Sis­ter David Marie of Wis­con­sin; two broth­ers, Harry (Joyce) of Delaware and Don­ald (San­dra) of Ash­ley; nieces and nephews, Jan (Efren) Silva Sanchez of Delaware, Harry Long Jr. of Delaware, Kara Long of Delaware, Rachel (Chris) Blue of Cli­bourne and Kori (Ryan) Southers of Colum­bus; and sev­eral great-nieces and –nephews.

The fam­ily will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Fri­day, Jan. 6, at the Rod­man Neeper Funeral Home, 1510 W. William St., Delaware. Grave­side ser­vices will then com­mence imme­di­ately fol­low­ing at Fairview Memo­r­ial Park.

Memo­r­ial con­tri­bu­tions are urged to be made in Vonnie’s mem­ory to Good­will Indus­tries or the char­ity of the donor’s choice.
