Carl E. Marston

Carl E. Marston, 77, was called home to be with the Lord on Fri­day (Dec. 30, 2011).

He was born Sept. 20, 1934, to the late Lester and Myr­tle (Heine­man) Marston. He was a life­long res­i­dent of Delaware County and was a mem­ber of and served as a trustee at Scioto Val­ley Chris­t­ian Union Church. He retired from Manor Care Nurs­ing Home, West­er­ville. Through­out his life, he worked at sev­eral places includ­ing Valves & Presses, The Flx­i­ble Com­pany, Rock­well and McDon­nell Dou­glas. He also man­aged Burger Chef and owned Dairy Creme. He served in the Ohio National Guard from 1952 to 1955, being dis­charged with the rank of sergeant. He enjoyed gar­den­ing, fish­ing, and was cap­tain of Dad’s Last One Char­ter Ser­vice on Lake Erie. Spend­ing time with fam­ily, church and friends was impor­tant to him, espe­cially his chil­dren, grand­chil­dren, and great-grandchildren; they were the true joy of his life.

He is sur­vived by his wife of 57 years, Betty (Cas­tro) Marston; daugh­ter, Carol Hud­son of Delaware; son, Mark (Brenda) Marston of Ostran­der; sister-in-law, Mar­ian Marston of Delaware; six grand­chil­dren, Michael (Jhama) Marston of Cam­bridge, Heather (Jeff) Reid of Sum­mer­set, S.D., Amanda (Nathan) Mowry of Delaware, Angela (Jamey) Sturkie of N. Charleston, S.C., Kelli (Eric) Kin­caid of Delaware and Bon­ny­lyn Hud­son (Andrew McManus) of Colum­bus; seven great-grandchildren; and numer­ous nieces and nephews.

He was pre­ceded in death by his son, Edward Marston; brother, Don­ald Marston; and sev­eral sisters-in law and brothers-in-law.

The fam­ily will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednes­day, Jan. 4, at the Rod­man Neeper Funeral Home, where ser­vices will be held at 11 a.m. Thurs­day. Bur­ial will fol­low in Oller Ceme­tery. The fam­ily will then host a recep­tion in the Rod­man Neeper Funeral Home Com­mu­nity Room.

In lieu of flow­ers, dona­tions may be made to Home­Reach Hos­pice or Scioto Val­ley Chris­t­ian Union Church, 5447 River­side Drive, Delaware, OH 43015.
