Darlyene (Carmack) Sweitzer

Dar­lyene (Car­mack) Sweitzer, 74, of Delaware died on Tues­day evening (Jan. 3, 2012).

Dar­lyene was affec­tion­ately known as “Nana” by her three grand­daugh­ters, Tiffani and Stephani DuScheid of Dublin and Ella Sweitzer of Colum­bus. Dar­lyene grad­u­ated from Akron Garfield High School and later the Ham­mel Actual Busi­ness Col­lege where she devel­oped her work skills as an exec­u­tive assis­tant to sev­eral cor­po­ra­tions over her career. She was also past pres­i­dent of Beta Sigma Phi Akron chap­ter, a busi­ness women’s pro­fes­sional soror­ity. Dary­lene was a woman of strong faith and love of fam­ily now rest­ing in God’s arms.

She is sur­vived by her hus­band of 52 years, Tom Sweitzer; daugh­ter, Tami (David) DuScheid of Dublin; son, Dar­rel of Bucyrus; and her twin brother, Dar­rel Car­mack of Akron.

She was pre­ceded in death by her son, Stephen; and a sister-in-law, Sandy Carmack.

The fam­ily will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sun­day, Jan. 8, at the Rod­man Neeper Funeral Home, 1510 W. William St., Delaware. Funeral ser­vices will be held at 1 p.m. Mon­day, Jan. 9, at the Lib­erty Pres­by­ter­ian Church (The Barn Church), 7080 Olen­tangy River Road, Delaware, with the Rev. Becky Hart offi­ci­at­ing. A recep­tion will imme­di­ately fol­low the ser­vices and then grave­side ser­vices will be held at 3 p.m. at nearby King­wood Memo­r­ial Park, where her son Stephen peace­fully rests.

Memo­r­ial con­tri­bu­tions may be made for research to the Amer­i­can Can­cer Society.
