Lucille V. ‘Lucy’ Gibson
Lucille V. “Lucy” Gibson, 89, of Delaware died Monday (Jan. 2, 2012) at Riverside Methodist Hospital.
The last of six children born to the late Fred and Mary Price, Lucy was born in Powell and graduated from Columbus North High School, Class of 1940. She retired from the Olentangy School District, was a Docent, Emeritus of the Columbus Zoo and was a past CampFire leader. Lucy attended the former Hyatts United Methodist Church (Liberty United Methodist Church).
She is survived by her three daughters, Sharon (Dick) Whaley of Columbus, Carolyn (Rich) Rector of Galloway and Karen Clipner of Delaware; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Woodrow “Woody” Gibson; son, Larry Wayne Gibson; and son-in-law, Larry Clipner.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, at the Rutherford Funeral Home at Powell, 450 W. Olentangy St., Powell, 614–792-1471, where family will receive friends one hour before the service beginning at 1 p.m. The Revs. John Gerard and Steve Davis will be officiating. (The funeral home is located on West Olentangy Street/Powell Road/Ohio 750, ¼ mile east of Sawmill Parkway.)
