After sparring last Thursday over eligibility criteria for a proposed cost-of-living pay increase for some county employees, Delaware County commissioners on Monday voted 2–1 in favor of a 2 percent pay increase. After going without any increases in pay since 2008, commissioners are hoping to reward the approximately 400 employees under their direction with a 2 percent bump in salary, a concept that all three commissioners are fully behind.

In the wake of a Gazette report detailing Delaware County Commissioner Ken O’Brien’s request for an investigation into county economic development director Gus Comstock’s acceptance of tickets to sporting events, fellow commissioner Dennis Stapleton asked Monday for the investigation to expand to cover all county employees and the gifts they may have accepted.
