Sort then shuffle
United States Postal Service clerks Sherri Fry (foreground) and Cecilia Easton sort daily mail in the USPS Sunbury branch. Fry, who has been with the Sunbury branch for 15 years, said that any closings due to government cutbacks would affect smaller offices in the area without clerks, carriers and rural delivery. Easton, a 31-year veteran of the postal service, said that the holidays were incredibly busy. “We had 2,000 extra packages per day coming in that had to be sorted by us and distributed to carriers due to online shopping. We also had Fed Ex, UPS and DHL dropping off packages for delivery. First-class mail is down due to people paying bills online, but holiday shipping from online purchases helped out a great deal.”
