Commissioner hopefuls present their platforms during Sunbury forum
Grace B. Ballard, 85, of Delaware passed away Saturday (Feb. 18, 2012) at Riverside Methodist Hospital.
She was born on May 20, 1926 in Mason County, Ky., to the late Forrest and Bessie (Jones) Cobb. Originally from Maysville, Ky. she lived in Columbus for 20 years and moved to North Old State Road in 1966 prior to becoming a Delaware resident. On Aug. 14, 1955 she married her beloved husband of 53 years, Joe Ballard Sr., who preceded her in death in 2009. Grace was most grateful to the Lord for leading him into the lives of her and her daughter. An accomplished seamstress, for years she worked unselfishly as a home health aide and private nurse. She joined the Eastwood Seventh-day Adventist church in 1954 and will be remembered as a devoted member. Grace served her church as a Community Services Director and Deaconess. She was well known for her cooking, especially her famous honey whole wheat bread. Always caring and generous, she was warm hearted and a good listener.
She is survived by daughter, Diana White of Westerville; stepdaughter, Sharon Bell of Colton, Calif.; stepsons ,Joe Jr. of Sun City West, Ariz., and Charles Ballard of California; 14 grandchildren including Adam White of Columbus; and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition, she helped numerous families and foster children.
She was also preceded in death by first husband, William Robert Frederick; a sister; and five brothers.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Eastwood Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 6400 South Sunbury Road, Westerville, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with interment in Green Mound Cemetery near Kilbourne. Arrangements are entrusted to the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Delaware.
The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the Joe G. Ballard Sr. Eastwood Jr. Academy Endowment Fund.
