Guy Edward Wilson
Guy Edward Wilson, 96, passed away of natural causes Wednesday (Feb. 8, 2012) at Willow Brook Christian Village, Centrum Care in Delaware.
Guy was born in Waltham, Mass., to the late Annie (Perry) and Emerson Wilson on Jan. 20, 1916. He lived most of his life in Massachusetts then resided in New Washington, Ohio from 1993 to 2006. Guy was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and served in World War II where he was stationed in the Pacific until his honorable discharge in 1946. He worked in the wholesale grocery business his entire career for Libby Foods, Inc. and for C&S Wholesale Grocery in Worcester, Mass., retiring at age 65. Guy was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Washington and resided in Delaware for the past five years. He was passionate for golf, reading and his family. He was loved and respected by all who knew him.
He is survived by one daughter, Carolyn (Robert) Bordner of Powell; two grandchildren, Ben J. (Michelle) Richards of Cleves and Debbie (Kyle) Fink of Lewis Center; and three step-grandchildren: Sharon (Philip) Gervais of Canal Winchester, Carolyn (Rob) Delaney of Hilliard and Laura (Gary) Shook, of Powell. Surviving also are five great-grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 59 years, Ella (Stearns) Wilson; and a sister, Phyllis Fox.
A private family funeral service was held with the Rev. Joseph H. Bartczak officiating and Guy was laid to rest beside his wife Ella at Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen, Mass. Rutherford Funeral Home at Powell, 450 W. Olentangy St., Powell, assisted the family.
