Guy Edward Wilson

Guy Edward Wil­son, 96, passed away of nat­ural causes Wednes­day (Feb. 8, 2012) at Wil­low Brook Chris­t­ian Vil­lage, Cen­trum Care in Delaware.

Guy was born in Waltham, Mass., to the late Annie (Perry) and Emer­son Wil­son on Jan. 20, 1916. He lived most of his life in Mass­a­chu­setts then resided in New Wash­ing­ton, Ohio from 1993 to 2006. Guy was a vet­eran of the U.S. Marine Corps and served in World War II where he was sta­tioned in the Pacific until his hon­or­able dis­charge in 1946. He worked in the whole­sale gro­cery busi­ness his entire career for Libby Foods, Inc. and for C&S Whole­sale Gro­cery in Worces­ter, Mass., retir­ing at age 65. Guy was a mem­ber of St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Wash­ing­ton and resided in Delaware for the past five years. He was pas­sion­ate for golf, read­ing and his fam­ily. He was loved and respected by all who knew him.

He is sur­vived by one daugh­ter, Car­olyn (Robert) Bor­d­ner of Pow­ell; two grand­chil­dren, Ben J. (Michelle) Richards of Cleves and Deb­bie (Kyle) Fink of Lewis Cen­ter; and three step-grandchildren: Sharon (Philip) Ger­vais of Canal Win­ches­ter, Car­olyn (Rob) Delaney of Hilliard and Laura (Gary) Shook, of Pow­ell. Sur­viv­ing also are five great-grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren.

He was pre­ceded in death by his par­ents; his wife of 59 years, Ella (Stearns) Wil­son; and a sis­ter, Phyl­lis Fox.

A pri­vate fam­ily funeral ser­vice was held with the Rev. Joseph H. Bartczak offi­ci­at­ing and Guy was laid to rest beside his wife Ella at Elm­wood Ceme­tery, Methuen, Mass. Ruther­ford Funeral Home at Pow­ell, 450 W. Olen­tangy St., Pow­ell, assisted the family.

In lieu of flow­ers, friends are asked to con­sider memo­r­ial con­tri­bu­tions to Wil­low Brook Chris­t­ian Com­mu­ni­ties, 100 Delaware Crossing-West, Delaware, OH 43015 or St. John’s Lutheran Church, 203 East Mans­field St., New Wash­ing­ton, OH 44854, in Guy’s memory.
