James Wesley Barber, 59, of Delaware, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning July 22, 2011 at his residence. He was born Oct. 14, 1951 in Delaware to Kenneth and Julia (Jordan) Barber. He was restaurant manager for the former Brown Jug Restaurant, member of the Ashley United Methodist Church, member of the Hiram Masonic Lodge #18, Delaware and treasurer for the Delaware Fish and Game Club. In his younger years, he was a dairy farmer, loved square dancing, and was active with 4-H and the FFA. He also enjoyed camping and was an avid OSU Buckeye and John Wayne fan.

He is survived by two brothers, Kenny (Joann) Barber of Delaware and Fred (Charlotte) Barber of Cardington; sister, Bonnie (Butch Benefield) Garner of Cardington; two nephews, Randy Miller of California and David Miller of Hilliard; niece, Christina (Christopher) Redman of Cardington; great niece, Chessa Redman; stepmother, Nancy Barber of Mt. Gilead. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday July 26th at the Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, 1510 W. William St., Delaware and where Masonic Lodge services will take place at 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday July 27 at the funeral home with Rev. Cheryl Seitz officiating. Burial will follow in Marlboro Cemetery. The family will then host a reception in the Rodman Neeper Community Room immediately following the graveside services. The family also requests that all in attendance for the calling hours and funeral, dress “Buckeye” casual in memory of Jim. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ashley UMC.
