A man was arrested around 9:50 a.m. Thursday after trying to run people over with his truck and ramming into the garage of a home on Cloverdale Drive in Galena, according to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a report of a man driving a truck into the caller’s yard and trying to run people over. While on their way to the scene the deputy was advised that the man had also struck the caller’s garage.
“When deputies arrived they observed two damaged trucks, a large hole in the side of the house, and other property damage,” Sheriff Walter L. Davis III said in a written release. Witnesses advised deputies that a construction crew was working at the incident location pouring concrete for a new driveway. The cement truck was partially blocking the roadway when a lawn chemical truck wanted to pass by but was unable to.
The driver of the lawn chemical truck, later identified as 34-year-old Kevin Kindrick of Plain City, became irate and threatened to run the workers over. Kindrick then drove over the curb and into the yard and proceeded to chase the workers and other individuals with his truck. Kindrick continued to chase people, struck two vehicles, damaged numerous pieces of equipment and tools, and drove through the yard around the side of the house and rammed his truck into the side of the garage.
“After striking the garage Kindrick left the area, but returned just minutes later to do the same thing. He drove through the yard, through the freshly poured concrete, and all around the front of the residence attempting to hit the people with his truck,” Sheriff Davis said.
The homeowner while in the garage did suffer injuries to her leg as a result of Kindrick’s actions. No other injuries were reported.
Kindrick fled from the area in his truck but was later found in Sunbury where he was arrested and charged with attempted vehicular assault and vandalism. Kindrick is currently being held in the Delaware County Jail.
“Luckily there were not more people injured or even killed due to this man’s road rage,” Davis said. “This is why drivers need to be alert and calm while on the road.”
