Delaware becomes 3rd Purple Heart City in state
Sondra L. Sparks, 73, of Ashley passed away Tuesday (Feb. 7, 2012) surrounded by her loving family and friends at Grady Memorial Hospital.
She was born on Nov. 6, 1938, in Ashley to Clyde and Betty (Young) Lowther. Sondra was known as a very caring and loving person who enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren and with her friends on Facebook. She also enjoyed arts and crafts, sewing, taking long drives in car and traveling to new places.
Sondra is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ronald; a daughter, Becky Nelson Miller of Delaware; a son, Ron Sparks Jr. of Ashley; three grandchildren, Lyndsey Nelson, Tonya Ropp and Tyler Emmons; four great-grandchildren, Keyonna, Breana, Kami and Matthew; four sisters, Mary Lacross, Chrystal Edington, Marguita (Harley) Hines and Melody (Jerry) Emmons; two brothers, Clyde (June) Lowther and Jeff Lowther; a brother-in-law, George Sparks; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a grandson, Cody Sparks.
A memorial service will be held for Sondra at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Rodman Neeper Funeral Home in Ashley with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the start of the memorial service.
