Mervin ‘Muggs’ Thomas

Mervin “Muggs” Thomas, 68, of Mar­ion passed away Thurs­day (March 29, 2012) at his residence.

He was born Feb. 29, 1944, in Rad­nor to the late Arvin Mervin and Iva Susan (Mor­ris) Thomas. On Sept. 24, 1974, he mar­ried Dorothy M. (Kibler). Muggs was a res­i­dent of Mar­ion for many years and for­merly lived in Prospect and Delaware. He was employed at Penry Stone for sev­eral years, was a mem­ber of Amvets Post 102 in Delaware. He enjoyed fish­ing, hang­ing out in his garage where he made home­made wine and did wood­work­ing, and spend­ing time with his grand­kids and the neigh­bor­hood kids. Through all his health bat­tles, he loved every­one at Mar­ion Gen­eral Car­diac Rehab for their kind­ness and support.

He is sur­vived by his wife, Dorothy Thomas of Mar­ion; chil­dren, Jackie Gib­son of Mar­ion, Joyce Craft of Mar­ion, War­ren Het­rick of Mar­ion, Kathy Blake­man of Mar­ion, Mervin Thomas of Mar­ion, George (Kathy) Thomas of Mar­ion; 20 grand­chil­dren, 18 great-grandchildren; his brother, Allen (Betty) Thomas of Delaware; and numer­ous nieces and nephews.

He was pre­ceded in death by his par­ents; two broth­ers, Ray­mond Thomas and Don­ald Thomas; and three sis­ters, Juanita Ben­nett, Esther Col­gan and Sarah Wycoff.

Funeral ser­vices for Muggs will be at 11 a.m. Mon­day, April 2, at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Ford offi­ci­at­ing. Bur­ial will fol­low at Prospect Ceme­tery. Vis­i­ta­tion for fam­ily and friends will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sun­day, April 1, at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home.
