Mervin ‘Muggs’ Thomas
Mervin “Muggs” Thomas, 68, of Marion passed away Thursday (March 29, 2012) at his residence.
He was born Feb. 29, 1944, in Radnor to the late Arvin Mervin and Iva Susan (Morris) Thomas. On Sept. 24, 1974, he married Dorothy M. (Kibler). Muggs was a resident of Marion for many years and formerly lived in Prospect and Delaware. He was employed at Penry Stone for several years, was a member of Amvets Post 102 in Delaware. He enjoyed fishing, hanging out in his garage where he made homemade wine and did woodworking, and spending time with his grandkids and the neighborhood kids. Through all his health battles, he loved everyone at Marion General Cardiac Rehab for their kindness and support.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Thomas of Marion; children, Jackie Gibson of Marion, Joyce Craft of Marion, Warren Hetrick of Marion, Kathy Blakeman of Marion, Mervin Thomas of Marion, George (Kathy) Thomas of Marion; 20 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; his brother, Allen (Betty) Thomas of Delaware; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Raymond Thomas and Donald Thomas; and three sisters, Juanita Bennett, Esther Colgan and Sarah Wycoff.
Funeral services for Muggs will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 2, at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Ford officiating. Burial will follow at Prospect Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 1, at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Cardiac Rehab at Marion General, American Heart Association or to Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
