Rebecca Anne Bargar
Rebecca Anne Bargar, 58, of Maysville, Ky., passed away on Sunday (Feb. 26, 2012).
She was born in Brecksville on March 9, 1953, to the late Edward Paul and Alice McCreery. Rebecca resided in Maysville, Ky., since 2009, where she moved to from Delaware. She spent her time in Maysville creating numerous works of art, writing, learning about the antique rosaries that she sold from her website, going to flea markets, experiencing the natural beauty of the Ohio River Valley, and exploring the town while walking her beloved dog Ashes. Rebecca graduated from Rutherford B. Hayes High School in Delaware in 1971 and Ohio Wesleyan University in 1975. She was a much loved teacher at R.B. Hayes High School where she taught from the 1980s until 2009. She worked tirelessly for her students and will be fondly remembered by many as a second mother to many. Her positive impact will long be felt by a generation of Delaware’s children. Though much of her time was spent at school, she loved to hike and drive through the county, read, work on arts projects and, for a time, being part of the Delaware Artists Guild.
She is survived by her four children, Shawn Anthony Holland, 21, of Delaware, Nathan Jariah Bargar, 31, of Maysville, Adrianne Brandon Bargar, 34, of Delaware and Duane Wyatt Bargar, 36, and his wife Florence Bargar of Albuquerque, N.M. She is also survived by her sister, Laura (Suzy) McCreery of Budapest, Hungary; a nephew, Daniel Petrovics of Budapest, Hungary; and many cousins, aunts and uncles.
A memorial will be held at noon on Sunday, March 4, in the Slocum Library on the Ohio Wesleyan University campus.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Delaware Arts Castle, 190 W. Winter St. Delaware, OH 43015.
