Rebecca Anne Bargar

Rebecca Anne Bar­gar, 58, of Maysville, Ky., passed away on Sun­day (Feb. 26, 2012).

She was born in Brecksville on March 9, 1953, to the late Edward Paul and Alice McCreery. Rebecca resided in Maysville, Ky., since 2009, where she moved to from Delaware. She spent her time in Maysville cre­at­ing numer­ous works of art, writ­ing, learn­ing about the antique rosaries that she sold from her web­site, going to flea mar­kets, expe­ri­enc­ing the nat­ural beauty of the Ohio River Val­ley, and explor­ing the town while walk­ing her beloved dog Ashes. Rebecca grad­u­ated from Ruther­ford B. Hayes High School in Delaware in 1971 and Ohio Wes­leyan Uni­ver­sity in 1975. She was a much loved teacher at R.B. Hayes High School where she taught from the 1980s until 2009. She worked tire­lessly for her stu­dents and will be fondly remem­bered by many as a sec­ond mother to many. Her pos­i­tive impact will long be felt by a gen­er­a­tion of Delaware’s chil­dren. Though much of her time was spent at school, she loved to hike and drive through the county, read, work on arts projects and, for a time, being part of the Delaware Artists Guild.

She is sur­vived by her four chil­dren, Shawn Anthony Hol­land, 21, of Delaware, Nathan Jariah Bar­gar, 31, of Maysville, Adri­anne Bran­don Bar­gar, 34, of Delaware and Duane Wyatt Bar­gar, 36, and his wife Flo­rence Bar­gar of Albu­querque, N.M. She is also sur­vived by her sis­ter, Laura (Suzy) McCreery of Budapest, Hun­gary; a nephew, Daniel Petro­vics of Budapest, Hun­gary; and many cousins, aunts and uncles.

A memo­r­ial will be held at noon on Sun­day, March 4, in the Slocum Library on the Ohio Wes­leyan Uni­ver­sity campus.

In lieu of flow­ers, dona­tions in her mem­ory can be made to the Delaware Arts Cas­tle, 190 W. Win­ter St. Delaware, OH 43015.
