Don’t miss these eco-events
I am amazed at all of the great eco-friendly events taking place in and around our county. Delaware is hopping with educational and family-friendly happenings. Here is a snapshot of some local events coming up that you might want to consider attending:
• MORPC, the City of Upper Arlington and Scotts Miracle-Gro will host a compost bin and rain barrel truckload sale. Among the deals are $100-valued Earth Machine compost bins on sale for $45 and $120-valued Systern rain barrels on sale for $55. These items will be available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 5, in the parking lot of Scotts Miracle-Gro, Office Lot, 14111 Scottslawn Road, Marysville, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 6, in the parking lot of Sunny 95 Park, 4395 Carriage Hill Lane, Upper Arlington. Check, Visa and Mastercard are accepted.
• “All of the Above: Exploring Alternative Energy,” as part of the Delaware Energy Awareness Series, will be from 2 to 4:30 p.m. in the Bayley Room of Ohio Wesleyan University’s Beeghly Library, 43 Rowland Ave. More information is available at sustainabledelawareohio.org.
• Stratford Ecological Center will host the class “Spring Soap Making with Paul Sandstrom, Saponifier” from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 10. Stratford Ecological Center is located at 3083 Liberty Road. • An appliance and computer recycling drop-off and document shredding event will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 12, at Sims Brothers Recycling, 65 London Road, Delaware. • The Community Garden Program Series program, “Food Pantries: What Produce Do They Need and How Can We Help?” will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the community room of the YMCA, 1121 S. Houk Road, Delaware. Visit delaware.osu.edu or call 740–833-2030 for more information.
