Don’t miss these eco-events

I am amazed at all of the great eco-friendly events tak­ing place in and around our county. Delaware is hop­ping with edu­ca­tional and family-friendly hap­pen­ings. Here is a snap­shot of some local events com­ing up that you might want to con­sider attending:

MORPC, the City of Upper Arling­ton and Scotts Miracle-Gro will host a com­post bin and rain bar­rel truck­load sale. Among the deals are $100-valued Earth Machine com­post bins on sale for $45 and $120-valued Sys­tern rain bar­rels on sale for $55. These items will be avail­able from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sat­ur­day, May 5, in the park­ing lot of Scotts Miracle-Gro, Office Lot, 14111 Scottslawn Road, Marysville, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sun­day, May 6, in the park­ing lot of Sunny 95 Park, 4395 Car­riage Hill Lane, Upper Arling­ton. Check, Visa and Mas­ter­card are accepted.

• “All of the Above: Explor­ing Alter­na­tive Energy,” as part of the Delaware Energy Aware­ness Series, will be from 2 to 4:30 p.m. in the Bay­ley Room of Ohio Wes­leyan University’s Beeghly Library, 43 Row­land Ave. More infor­ma­tion is avail­able at sustainabledelawareohio.org.

• Strat­ford Eco­log­i­cal Cen­ter will host the class “Spring Soap Mak­ing with Paul Sand­strom, Saponi­fier” from 6 to 9 p.m. Thurs­day, May 10. Strat­ford Eco­log­i­cal Cen­ter is located at 3083 Lib­erty Road. The class is $30 per per­son and is lim­ited to 12 peo­ple. • An appli­ance and com­puter recy­cling drop-off and doc­u­ment shred­ding event will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Sat­ur­day, May 12, at Sims Broth­ers Recy­cling, 65 Lon­don Road, Delaware. • The Com­mu­nity Gar­den Pro­gram Series pro­gram, “Food Pantries: What Pro­duce Do They Need and How Can We Help?” will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the com­mu­nity room of the YMCA, 1121 S. Houk Road, Delaware. Visit delaware.osu.edu or call 740–833-2030 for more information.
