Earth Day 2012: Root Down
The Nature Conservancy and Green Columbus encourage you to “put your roots down” by connecting with the local environment and fellow central Ohioans at Earth Day 2012. A city-wide celebration is planned from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, April 21, at the new Columbus Commons (the former site of the City Center in downtown Columbus).
The event will feature live music, a green art show, informational booths from eco-groups and vendors and a special chance to win a hybrid car. A children’s activities area will be provided as well as local food and beverage vendors. Thanks to Eartha Limited, the celebration will be zero waste-with virtually nothing going to a landfill.
Volunteer activities for Earth Day 2012: Root Down took place this past weekend around the city with hundreds of volunteers working at various locations to spruce up neighborhoods, parks and other areas.
Green Columbus is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting sustainable living in central Ohio and globally. The Nature Conservancy is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to environmental conservation and the preservation of biodiversity. This fun, family-friendly event sounds like the perfect way to commemorate Earth Day with your friends and family.
