Earth Day 2012: Root Down

The Nature Con­ser­vancy and Green Colum­bus encour­age you to “put your roots down” by con­nect­ing with the local envi­ron­ment and fel­low cen­tral Ohioans at Earth Day 2012. A city-wide cel­e­bra­tion is planned from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sat­ur­day, April 21, at the new Colum­bus Com­mons (the for­mer site of the City Cen­ter in down­town Columbus).

The event will fea­ture live music, a green art show, infor­ma­tional booths from eco-groups and ven­dors and a spe­cial chance to win a hybrid car. A children’s activ­i­ties area will be pro­vided as well as local food and bev­er­age ven­dors. Thanks to Eartha Lim­ited, the cel­e­bra­tion will be zero waste-with vir­tu­ally noth­ing going to a landfill.

Vol­un­teer activ­i­ties for Earth Day 2012: Root Down took place this past week­end around the city with hun­dreds of vol­un­teers work­ing at var­i­ous loca­tions to spruce up neigh­bor­hoods, parks and other areas.

Green Colum­bus is a not-for-profit orga­ni­za­tion ded­i­cated to pro­mot­ing sus­tain­able liv­ing in cen­tral Ohio and glob­ally. The Nature Con­ser­vancy is a lead­ing non-profit orga­ni­za­tion ded­i­cated to envi­ron­men­tal con­ser­va­tion and the preser­va­tion of bio­di­ver­sity. This fun, family-friendly event sounds like the per­fect way to com­mem­o­rate Earth Day with your friends and family.
