Frances J. “Fran” Dawson, 73, of Delaware passed away unexpectedly at home Sunday (April 22, 2012).
She was born on Sept. 21, 1938, in Beaver Falls, Pa., to the late Joseph and J. Evelyn (Chambers) Muris. A graduate of Beaver Falls High School in 1956, it was there James L. Dawson Jr. would catch her eye. They were married in 1958 and shared 46 wonderful years before he died in 2005. First and foremost, she was a dedicated wife and mother. After her family was grown, she worked as medical billing agent and then as a greeter for Meijer in Lewis Center. A member of St. James Episcopal Church in Boardman and the Delaware Eagles, she will be remembered for her easy going pleasant personality and warm smile. She enjoyed a passion for reading, especially mysteries and books of history. A fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Elvis, she and her husband were quite the dancers in their younger years. She longed for the seasons of the tri-state area, which along with family brought her back to Ohio in 2006. Whether it was her own boys, grandsons or just as a fan, she remained a wrestling enthusiast. A soccer and lacrosse grandma as well, she was happiest with her cherished family, grandchildren, and friends.
She is survived by her sons, James (Elaine) Dawson of Lewis Center and Terry Dawson of South Carolina; daughter, Jeannie Estes of Port Charlotte, Fla.; and four treasured grandchildren, James, Terry, Daniel and Stephanie.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. Friday funeral services at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St., Delaware. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. at the Beaver Falls Cemetery & Memorial Park in Beaver Falls, Pa.
