Harry Thomas Bartow
Harry Thomas Bartow, 82, of Delaware passed away unexpectedly early Wednesday morning (April 25, 2012) in the emergency room at Grady Memorial Hospital.
He was born Feb. 13, 1930, in Chicago to Clyde Orvell and Elizabeth Mary (Schueller) Bartow. He was a graduate of the Air Force Intelligence School and served his country during the Korean War in the Air Force. He has been a Delaware resident for 37 years coming from Findlay and Perrysburg. He worked for Ernst and Ernst in Perrysburg, Nachurs Plant Food in Marion and Grumann Flexable in Delaware. He was a member of the Liberty Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Delaware Elks Lodge 76. He enjoyed playing cards every Tuesday at the Council for Older Adults and he loved the Little Brown Jug horse races. He was a great cook and for many years has prepared all the food at Garth’s Auctions Inc.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Louise DeCaro; sons, Tom Bartow of Littleton, Colo., and Bryan Bartow of Arvada, Colo.; daughter, Karen Mavis of Delaware; three grandchildren, Brendan and Derek Mavis and Maia Louise Long; two stepgrandchildren, Sean and Olivia Mavis; brother, David Clyde Bartow of Sun Prairie, Wis.; sisters-in-law, Sharel Bartow of Sun City, Ariz., and Lea Bartow of Mucwonago, Wis.; good friends, Bradley and Nicki Mavis of Delaware; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Bettie Dwinell; and brothers, Robert Lee and John Bartow.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 28, at the Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, 1510 W. William St. at Valleyside Drive, Delaware. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery where members of the U.S. Air Force will provide military honors.
