John E. ‘Jack’ Midlam

John E. “Jack” Mid­lam, 95, of Delaware, died Sat­ur­day (March 31, 2012) at Grady Memo­r­ial Hospital.

He was born May 9, 1916, in Mar­ion, to Carl and Mar­garet (Hecker) Mid­lam. He proudly served in the Army Air Corps in the South Pacific dur­ing WWII. He attended Ohio North­ern Uni­ver­sity. He was the pre­vi­ous owner of Gen­eral Cast­ings. He was a mem­ber of Lib­erty United Methodist Church.

He is sur­vived by his wife, Eileen; chil­dren, Darcy Kaplan of Galena, Wendy Graves of Delaware, Sher­rie Williams of Logan, Vickie Valen­tine of Kirk­wood, N.Y. and Richard Gat­ton of Nor­walk; many grand­chil­dren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles of Florida; and spe­cial friends, Randy and Marci DeWitt of Delaware.

He was pre­ceded in death by two sons, John and Daniel; a grand­son, Matthew Graves; a sis­ter, Jean Hall; and four broth­ers, Paul, Low­ell, For­est and Donald.

A vis­i­ta­tion will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tues­day at the Robin­son Funeral Home, where funeral ser­vice will be at 11 a.m. Wednes­day with the Rev. John Girard offi­ci­at­ing. Bur­ial will fol­low in Oak Grove Ceme­tery and the Delaware County Vet­er­ans Asso­ci­a­tion will con­duct mil­i­tary honors.
