John E. ‘Jack’ Midlam
John E. “Jack” Midlam, 95, of Delaware, died Saturday (March 31, 2012) at Grady Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 9, 1916, in Marion, to Carl and Margaret (Hecker) Midlam. He proudly served in the Army Air Corps in the South Pacific during WWII. He attended Ohio Northern University. He was the previous owner of General Castings. He was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen; children, Darcy Kaplan of Galena, Wendy Graves of Delaware, Sherrie Williams of Logan, Vickie Valentine of Kirkwood, N.Y. and Richard Gatton of Norwalk; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles of Florida; and special friends, Randy and Marci DeWitt of Delaware.
He was preceded in death by two sons, John and Daniel; a grandson, Matthew Graves; a sister, Jean Hall; and four brothers, Paul, Lowell, Forest and Donald.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Robinson Funeral Home, where funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. John Girard officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery and the Delaware County Veterans Association will conduct military honors.
