Opal Bower

Opal Bower, 90, of Delaware passed away Wednes­day evening (April 11, 2012) at Coun­tryview of Sunbury.

She was born May 5, 1921 in Rich­wood to Samuel Pearl and Otis Eve­lyn (Robert­son) Lan­des. She was a home­maker, lov­ing wife, mother and grand­mother who enjoyed sewing, can­ning, gar­den­ing, the out­doors, music, spend­ing time with her chil­dren and all her ani­mals. She also attended Delaware Bible Church.

She is sur­vived by a son, James (Dot­tie) Bower of West­er­ville; two daugh­ters, Pearle Eve­lyn Bower of Kent and Stella Louise (Greg) Cun­ning­ham of Delaware; seven grand­chil­dren, three step­grand­chil­dren, 13 great-grandchildren, and seven step-great-grandchildren; and numer­ous nieces and nephews.

She was pre­ceded in death by her hus­band, James Thomas Bower Jr. on Sept. 17, 2000; two broth­ers, Low­ell and Jesse Lan­des; and one sis­ter, Flo­rence Everly.

The fam­ily will receive friends from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sun­day, April 15, at the Rod­man Neeper Funeral Home, 1510 W. William St. at Val­ley­side Drive, Delaware, and where funeral ser­vices will be held at 11 a.m. Mon­day, April 16, with the Rev. Mar­vin Hintz offi­ci­at­ing. Bur­ial will fol­low in Oak Grove Ceme­tery. Imme­di­ately fol­low­ing the grave­side ser­vices, the fam­ily invites all atten­dees to the Rod­man Neeper Com­mu­nity Room for a time of nour­ish­ment and addi­tional fellowship.
