Alexis Paige “Lexi” McDaniel
Alexis Paige “Lexi” McDaniel, 4-year-old daughter of Paul Douglas and Angela D. Orris McDaniel II of North Lewisburg, died Monday (April 30, 2012) at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus from complications related to Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).
Lexi was born May 20, 2007, in Marysville. A beautiful little girl, Lexi brightened the lives of everyone who knew her and loved being surrounded by her family and friends. She enjoyed big pink dresses and Dora the Explorer, the family’s pet snake and petting horses, but was not a fan of Barbie or fairies and petting cows and would be quick to alert you of her displeasure. She possessed a courageous spirit and will be missed beyond measure. The family takes comfort in knowing that Lexi shared the gift of life as an organ donor through Lifeline of Ohio.
Along with her parents, she is survived by three brothers, Jesse, 14, Marcus, 8, and Colin, 7; maternal grandfather, David Orris of Delaware; maternal grandparents, Tonda and Mike Hoffman of Marysville; paternal grandmother, Connie Rutherford of Lewis Center; paternal great-grandmother, Ruth Rutherford of Delaware; two uncles, Christopher Sergent of Delaware and Joshua Sergent of Sunbury; an aunt, Samantha (Domonic) Marchio of Sunbury; two stepuncles, Brian Rutherford and Shawn Rutherford, each of Delaware; godmother, Mareda Brewer of North Lewisburg; godfather, Jerry Moran of Cardington; and caregivers, Ann Carnes of Bellefontaine and Sarah Leasure of Marysville.
She was preceded in death by a maternal grandmother, Marsha Drumm Orris, and paternal grandfather, Dick Rutherford.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 4, at Mannasmith Funeral Home, Marysville, where the funeral service will begin at 7 p.m. Paul Reynolds will officiate and burial will take place at a later date at Oakdale Cemetery.
