Will we earn security in retirement?
Gary R. Meeker, 75, of Delaware, passed away early Saturday morning (June 11, 2015) at the emergency room at Grady Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 2, 1935 in Galena to Albert and Dorothy Courter Meeker. He was a lifelong Delaware County resident and was an inspector for the Delaware County Engineer’s office with more than 30 years of service. Gary served four years in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion. His hobbies included fishing and vegetable gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Betty (Converse); stepsons, Tom Brown of Delaware, Mark Brown of Kenton and Robert Brown of Marengo; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Harold Meeker of Johnstown and Claude Meeker of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marian Cackler. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 16, at the Rodman Neeper Funeral Home with graveside funeral services to be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Oak Grove Cemetery. The Rev. Jeff Slider of the Delaware Bible Church will officiate.
