Larry D. Grotelueschen, 66 of Delaware died Monday (July 11, 2011) in the Grady Memorial Hospital Emergency Room.

Larry was born on May 12, 1945 in Fullerton, Neb., to the late Elmer and Katherine (Kerli) Grotelueschen. Larry was a veteran serving in the National Guard. He was also a retired sales manager for Rainbow Bread and area director/troubleshooter for Wendy’s restaurants. He had lived in the Delaware area for one year coming from Swanton. Larry previously lived in Kansas where he served as president of the Chamber of Commerce, the Lions Club and the Rotary. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and Shrine. Larry loved the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Larry was a hard worker who never knew a stranger, and with his magnetic personality he made friends very easily. He was known as “Papa” to his grandchildren, who were the love of his life. He was most proud of his sons, who all graduated from college.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 46 years, Treva (Baker); sons, Doug (Jamie) of Colorado Springs, Colo., Scott (Allison) of Lewis Center and Marc (Merilou) of Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii; grandchildren, Tate, Jake, Luke, Trent, Lizzie, Gabbie, Lexi, Jayden, Peyton and Lian; twin brother, Terry (Marilyn) of Oklahoma City, Okla.; sister, Shirley (Carl) Knapp of Tuscon, Ariz.; and nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by brother, Don; and sister, Phyllis Hoy.

Friends may call one hour prior to the 11 a.m. service Friday at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St., Delaware. Interment will follow in the Cheshire Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the: Olentangy Little League or Olentangy Youth Athletic Association Softball program in care of the funeral home.
