George F. ‘Ike’ Sebring

George F. “Ike” Sebring, 83, of Mar­ion passed away at 11:30 a.m. Sun­day (May 6, 2012) in his home.

He was born on July 6, 1928, in Delaware to George and Ruby (Schus­ter) Sebring. George mar­ried Norma “June” Reams on Dec. 24, 1949, in Mar­ion and she sur­vives. He worked for 10 years at the Mar­ion Engi­neer Depot and later worked as an inspec­tor at the Whirlpool Corp.

Sur­viv­ing along with his wife are a son, Richard Sebring of Franklin, N.C.; a sis­ter, Erdean See of Delaware; three grand­chil­dren, Nathan and Natasha Sebring and Natalie Shley; and five great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Keith Irey will con­duct the funeral ser­vice at 10 a.m. Thurs­day, May 10, in the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Bur­ial will fol­low in King­wood Memo­r­ial Park, Lewis Cen­ter. Friends may call from 5–8 p.m. Wednes­day at the funeral home.

Con­tri­bu­tions may be made to the Qual­ity of Life Hos­pice Pro­gram at Mar­ion Gen­eral Hospital.
