Julie Elizabeth Harter
Julie Elizabeth Harter, 68, of Delaware, passed away Thursday morning (May 17, 2012) at her residence.
She was born July 18, 1943, in Knoxville, Tenn., to Fred Maples and Winnie (Dunn) Maples. She received her GED in 1961 from Northwestern High School in Raymond. She lived most of her in life in Delaware. She worked as a bookkeeper for Larcom and Mitchell and also as a waitress for Frisch’s Restaurant. She was a 33-year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 376 of Delaware. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing and in her earlier years, camping. She was a fan of the Cincinnati Reds and was a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She was a collector of angels, owls and family pictures. She was a lover of animals.
She is survived by her husband of 31 years, James; a daughter, Traci Maples of Delaware; four step-sons, Edward Harter of Ostrander, Tony (Lana) Harter of Crystal Lake, Ill., Keith (Lori) Harter of Belleair, Fla., and Mark (Sherry) Harter of Lewis Center; 10 step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Stella (Alastair) Bourhill of Prospect and Shirlee Wells of Grayson, Ky.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a step-son, John Harter; and a sister, Almeda Donathan.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 21, at the Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, 1510 W. William St. at Valleyside Drive, Delaware. Celebration of life services will follow at 7 p.m. Immediately following the services, additional fellowship and a reception will be held at the FOE No. 376, 127 E. William St., Delaware.
