Kathryn Elizabeth Potter Rouse

Kathryn Eliz­a­beth Pot­ter Rouse, 89, of Ash­ley passed away peace­fully Mon­day (May 21, 2012).

Born June 20, 1922 in Delaware the only daugh­ter of Thereon and Mayme (Dil­dine) Pot­ter, Kathryn (Katie) was a life­long res­i­dent of Delaware County. Kathryn grad­u­ated from Brown High School in Kil­bourne, a mem­ber of the class of 1941. After grad­u­a­tion, Kathryn mar­ried Don­ald F. Rouse Jan. 25, 1942, and raised three chil­dren. Her inter­ests included fam­ily, flower gar­den­ing, sewing and read­ing. She enjoyed vis­it­ing with friends and fam­ily and was an active mem­ber of The Fidelis Mother’s Club and par­tic­i­pated in sev­eral card clubs. She devoted much of her time as a vol­un­teer in the gift shop at Grady Memo­r­ial Hos­pi­tal. She was a mem­ber of the Daugh­ters of the Amer­i­can Rev­o­lu­tion, as well as the Rebecca Lodge. She was a mem­ber of the Ash­ley United Methodist Church.

Kathryn is sur­vived by her chil­dren, Eliz­a­beth A. (Earl) Brown of Delaware, Shirley K. (Ed) Reely of Delaware and Don­ald A. Rouse of San Anto­nio; three grand­chil­dren, Cather­ine (Keith) Holewin­ski, Lisa K. Reely and Eddy (Jeni) Reely; and two great-grandchildren, Edward D. Reely and Austin J. Reely.

She was pre­ceded in death by her hus­band in 1970; her daughter-in-law, Mar­cia Rouse in 2011; and a still­born son in 1960.

Call­ing hours will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sat­ur­day at the Robin­son Funeral Home where a cel­e­bra­tion of her life will take place at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Sheryl Seitz offi­ci­at­ing. Bur­ial will fol­low in Ash­ley Union Cemetery.

    Think­ing about all of you with under­stand­ing. No words can express what I know you’re feel­ing, except now she is with­out pain and suf­fer­ing. Wish I was there to help you wher­ever possible.
