Each of the three Olentangy golf squads were in action during Monday’s Lexington Invitational, with Liberty garnering the most success thanks to its team total of 376 — a mark good enough for third overall.
Hannah Flees led the Patriots, shooting an 88 at the Pebble Creek Golf Club course (par 72). Other Liberty leaders included Rachel Marks (90), Sophie Baun (96) and Natalie Durtschi (102).
Despite shooting over 400, Orange and Olentangy had their share of bright spots, too. The Pioneers, led by Maria Nobile’s 100 and steady contributions from Avery Clement (102), Brittany Stevens (107) and Sabrina Clement (107), shot a 416. The Braves, meanwhile, boosted by Taylor Dencer’s 97, closed with a 428. Ashley Parker (101), Brooke Stinnette (107) and Anne Kim (121) also chipped in for Olentangy.
Wadsworth won the tourney with a 362 while Ashland finished second, just above Liberty with a 370.
• Orange finished fourth at Monday’s Marysville Invitational, firing a 331.
Scorers included John McHale, who fired a 79; John Jones, who closed with an 81; Jake McClellan, who had an 82 when all was said and done; and the duo of Ray Albertini and Austin Wallace, who finished with 89s.
Marysville won the event win a 307.
• Olentangy and Liberty were in action Monday, competing in the ultra-competitive Mount Vernon Country Club Classic. The Braves, led by Nathan Curtis’ 80 and Carter Rubcich’s 82, finished 14th with a team total of 328.
The Patriots, led by Tommy Fortunato’s 76, were right behind them with a combined 333 — good enough for 15th place.
Upper Arlington took home top honors with a 296.
• Big Walnut competed in the Watkins Memorial Invitational, finishing seventh among the 20-team field with a 334. Contributors included Evan Cannell, who shot an 80; Tyler Burks, who had an 84; and the duo of T.J. Cowans and Kyle Gose, who had 85s.
