Darlene “Tootie” Mowery, 76 of Mount Vernon and formerly Sunbury, died Friday evening Aug. 5, 2011 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on Nov. 13, 1934 in Hillsboro to the late Mike and Mary (Harris) Wilcox. She was a retired injection molder for Plastics Research Products of Urbana. Tootie was an avid quilter, making quilts for many people. She also enjoyed many other crafts, flowers, music from the 50’s and 60’s and antique car shows. Tootie was a friend to everybody and devoted to her family.
Survived by her husband: Bill Mowery and they were married Oct. 27, 1984 in Delaware; sons: James (Sue) Jackson of Marengo, Mark Jackson of Jasper, TN; daughters: Vicki (Rick) Dunlavy of West Liberty, Terri (Jerry) Ropp of Bellefontaine; step-sons: Billy (Sharon Jones) Mowery of Sunbury, Tom (Candy) Mowery of Sunbury, Bob (Jennifer) Mowery of Whitehall; step-daughters: Nancy Mowery of Sunbury, Sharon Mowery of Cincinnati, Sue (George) Patrakis of Somersworth NH, Sandy (Michael) St. Onge of Effingham, NH; 24 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; brother: Calvin “Bud” (Nola) Wilcox of Marion; brother-in-law: John Barnhard of Columbus.
Preceded in death by her beloved sister Jean Barnhard.
Friends may call from 12 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at 61, Sunbury where services will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Wayne Booth officiating. Interment in the Northlawn Memory Gardens, Westerville.
