Delaware City Schools superintendent concerned by growing class sizes

William L. Sparkman, 86, of Ostrander died Monday (May 21, 2012) in Riverside Hospital.

He was born Aug. 3, 1925, in Catlettsburg, Ky., to William and Della (Howell) Sparkman. He proudly served his country in the Navy during World War II. He was a retired truck driver for the Columbus Dispatch and an employee of Cleaners Extraordinaire. He was an animal lover who enjoyed feeding the squirrels and birds and his greatest love was for his family.

He is survived by his wife, Anna; two daughters, Eva Bianchi and son-in-law Joe Bianchi of Delaware and Debra (George) Bargdill of Ostrander; two sons, John (Paula) of Prospect and William (Donna) of Delaware; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Catherine Lewis of Ashland, Ky.

He was preceded in death by his son, Keith; two grandsons, William and James Sparkman; and two brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at The Robinson Funeral Home where a funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Wayne Engle officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Ostrander.
