Earl Wright
Earl Wright, 61, of Ashley, died Saturday afternoon (June 23, 2012) surrounded by his family at his residence.
He was born Oct. 27, 1950, in Thornton, Ky., to the late Leslie and Susie (Blair) Wright. He had lived most of his life in the Delaware and Ashley area. He was a heavy equipment operator for the Shelly Company. Earl was a good and honest person. He would tell you like it was — whether you wanted to hear it or not, he would always tell you the truth. Earl loved riding his 1999 Harley Davidson Softail and restoring classic muscle cars, including his 1970 Nova. He enjoyed time spent going to swap meets with his brother and working in his garage. Earl and Tami enjoyed riding the Harley, trips to Tennessee and bike week in Daytona, Fla. Earl loved spending time with his family and friends — especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Tami (Ruggles) Wright, whom he married July 24, 1976, in Delaware; sons, Brandan Earl Wright of Ashley and Elmer Lee Wright of Delaware; daughter, Tania Davenport of Ashley; grandchildren, Heather, Holly, Heidi, Justin, Gabe, Hailey and Blake; brother, Eddie (Vivian) Wright of Delaware; sisters, Kathleen (Duane) Leighter of Raymond, Helen (Donnie) Brown of Marion and Joann (Bill) Nichols of Columbus; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Jackie Clay.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday from at the Snyder Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 W. William St. at Valleyside Drive, Delaware, with a service at 7:30 p.m. with Woody Bagwell officiating.
